How Far is Dong Nai from Saigon?
This is the first question on everyone’s mind! The distance really depends on your specific starting point in Ho Chi Minh City and your destination in Dong Nai province.

Generally speaking, if you’re traveling from the center of Saigon (District 1) to Bien Hoa City (the capital of Dong Nai), the distance is approximately 30 to 35 kilometers (about 18-22 miles). If your destination is further into the province, like Long Khanh or the Cat Tien National Park area, the distance will obviously be longer.
How Long Does the Trip Take?
Time is precious, we get it! For a trip to Bien Hoa City, the travel time can vary significantly based on traffic.
Off-Peak Hours: You can expect a pleasant drive of about 45 to 60 minutes.

Peak Hours (mornings & late afternoons): Traffic leaving or entering Saigon can be heavy, so the journey might take 1.5 hours or slightly more.
The beauty of choosing a private car rental with us is that you can just sit back and relax. Our experienced drivers know the best ways to navigate the city’s traffic, ensuring your journey is as quick and comfortable as possible. You can choose the perfect vehicle for your group from our fleet, whether it’s a comfy sedan or a spacious van.

Are There Any Rest Stops Along the Way?
Yes, absolutely! While the trip to Bien Hoa is relatively short, if you’re traveling on the main expressway, there is a very convenient and modern rest stop.
The most well-known one is the Phuong Trang Rest Stop (Trạm dừng chân Phương Trang) located on the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway. It’s a large, clean facility where you can:
- Use clean restrooms.
- Grab a coffee or a refreshing drink.
- Buy snacks, fruits, and local specialties.
- Have a quick meal at the food court.
It’s the perfect spot to stretch your legs before continuing your journey.

What Route Will We Take?
Our drivers prioritize the safest and most efficient route for you. The primary path from Saigon to Dong Nai is modern and well-maintained.
Here’s a breakdown of the typical route:
Departing from Saigon: We’ll navigate through the city streets to get onto the main artery leading east.
Hanoi Highway (Xa lộ Hà Nội): This major highway takes you across the Saigon River via the Saigon Bridge and through the eastern part of the city (formerly District 2 and District 9, now Thu Duc City).

Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway (Đường cao tốc TP.HCM – Long Thành – Dầu Giây): This is the star of the show! It’s a modern expressway that bypasses most of the local traffic, making it the fastest and most comfortable way to get to Dong Nai. Our drivers almost always use this route.
Depending on your final destination, we might exit the expressway towards Bien Hoa City or continue further down towards Long Thanh or Dau Giay.
We hope this guide makes planning your trip a breeze! Dong Nai is a wonderful destination for a day trip or a longer stay, and the journey there is half the fun when you don’t have to worry about the details.
